At Tonkla School, our primary education program focuses on building a solid academic foundation while supporting students’ holistic development. The learning process is designed to cultivate knowledge, skills, and positive character traits through the Integrated English Program (IEP)—a bilingual curriculum with an equal distribution of instruction in Thai and English (50:50).
We apply the Integrated – Experience – Project (IEP) framework as the foundation for our learning design, emphasizing real-world connections, hands-on experience, and project development. This approach fosters deep learning, encourages critical thinking, enhances joy in learning, and empowers students to apply their knowledge in daily life.
We place particular importance on laying strong academic foundations in areas essential for long-term learning success—namely, Mathematics, English, and Literacy.
Tonkla believes that meaningful learning aligned with a child’s development requires a balance of five key elements: Knowledge, Skills, Attitudes, Imagination, and Integrity (KSAii). These serve as the roots that support students’ growth—both academically and in life.
A holistic approach that connects experience, understanding, and purposeful action
Tonkla’s primary education follows the IEP framework, focusing on meaningful learning connected to real-world contexts. This model encourages students to grow through critical thinking, analysis, and goal-oriented action.
I – Integrated Learning
Subjects are integrated under a unifying theme or context to deepen understanding and help students see connections between disciplines. This supports systematic thinking and strengthens comprehension across subject areas.
E – Experience-based Learning
Students learn through direct experience—observation, experimentation, exploration, and interaction with their surroundings in the classroom, nature, and community. These hands-on experiences help form meaningful, lasting understanding and life skills.
P – Project-based Learning
Students are encouraged to initiate, plan, and implement their own projects, building on personal interests and experiences. This process enhances thinking, communication, and collaboration skills.
Tonkla integrates the 4C competencies throughout all grade levels to support students’ cognitive, emotional, and life skills—preparing them for today’s and tomorrow’s world.
Builds logical and structured thinking through engaging challenges, laying a strong foundation in technology and programming to equip students for the digital world.
Enhances communication skills in both Thai and English through collaborative activities, reasoned discussion, and diverse formats of expression.
Encourages free and creative thinking, allowing students to design work that reflects their unique abilities and interests without fixed outcomes—fostering imagination and innovation.
Cultivates resilience, responsibility, empathy, and leadership through meaningful learning experiences—helping students to understand themselves and care genuinely for others.
Tonkla places strong emphasis on core academic skills:
We believe that children thrive in a safe and nurturing physical and emotional environment. At Tonkla, students—our “little seedlings”—are cared for by “gardeners”—our teachers. Parents also play an essential role, helping to “water and nurture the soil” through engagement and support.
Our environment is designed to be gentle, secure, and conducive to cultivating the “heart of learning” alongside academic development. Here, every student is encouraged to express their authentic self and reach their full potential.
